Because of this notion in being in a shared community. (…) Why don’t we have mood mapping? (…) Everybody sort of tweets… well I don’t like it, or I do like it. (…) We could do it in real time! This is the year, when real time gets added to the equation that we are all dealing with now. It’s now all becoming real time. It is that sum, that defines both the problem and the opportunity, that all of us see. (…) and real time content (…) From our perspective, we need those voices.

Fast 50 Jahre gehörten die so genannten Routemaster, die roten Doppeldeckerbusse mit Aufspringplattform, zum festen Inventar der britischen Hauptstadt London. 2005 wurde ihr Betrieb allerdings komplett eingestellt – mit der Begründung, sie seien zu wenig behindertengerecht und zu gefährlich. Seit dem Frühjahr 2008 hat London einen neuen Bürgermeister und mit ihm soll die Tradition der roten Doppeldecker wieder aufleben. Boris Johnson rief Mitte des Jahres zu einem Design-Wettbewerb für einen neuen Routemaster auf. Zwei Entwürfe wurden prämiert: Zum einen das Konzept des Bus- und Lkw-Unternehmens Capoco sowie die Doppeldecker-Vision der Kooperation zwischen Aston Martin und Foster and Partners, einem berühmten Architekturbüro. Beide Konzeptionen werden nun von Bus-Herstellern auf Alltagstauglichkeit hin geprüft und in einem weiteren kompetitiven Prozess wird ein endgültiges Design entwickelt.
